Edinburgh Law (chances of rejection??? AND HAS ANYONE HEARD BACK?? 😭)

Hiiiii! Was wondering if anyone had heard back for LLB Law/Law and Politics at Edinburgh, and if so when did you apply???

I sent my UCAS in at the start of December but haven't received anything from the uni beyond the confirmation of first choice (LLB Law), which was confirmed on the 10th of Dec! Having seen other people from around the same time (and later!!) receiving offers, I'm getting a bit nervous!!!

I'm Scottish and eligible for Plus Flag with grades AABB at Higher and predicted Higher BB and Advanced Higher BB this year so should be above the entry but I'm not sure how reliable it is as Higher ABBB (minimum entry grades) seem awfully low for such a popular course???

I've also received offers from my other 3 choices, including an unconditional from Strathclyde for Law, Politics and International Relations, which has higher minimum entry grades than edinburgh (AABB)??

Honestly, I'm just freaking out a bit as Edinburgh was 100% my top choice and I'm kind of losing hope. I'm aware that in past cycles Edinburgh has continued making offers late into April/start of May, but considering others who applied later have heard back sooner, does this suggest a rejection?

Thank youuuu :frown:

With Scottish students, the University of Edinburgh tries to send out decisions by the end of April, but it can be as late as mid-May.

So it's not unusual at all to have not heard back from them yet, and it's nothing to worry about either.

I hope this helps.

It doesnt suggest anything. I resonate with you on this stress a lot, since I'm also waiting for an offer from Edinburgh and Lboro (my 2nd and 1st choices) for Industrial/Product Design, but I've acknowledged the reality of how admission offices really work and how their pacing is and those dates that they put up on their websites for potential hearing times are not arbitrary.

So I suggest you should stop reading into it so much, its okay to be stressed because I'm still stressed despite knowing this but the reality is that admission office are just people sitting in a desk handling files ONE by ONE in order of whichever comes to their desk. So no, just because others who applied later than you have offers right now doesn't indicate anything, it's literally just that their application file has reached their desk sooner than yours and that's luck.

Hiii! I applied for Law and Politics at Edinburgh and got my offer mid november after applying around the 12th of october. I am an international student, so that may have something to do with the early offer. Please don't lose hope though!!! It's still really early and I'm sure they'll get back to you with an offer soon )

Does anybody know if being a young carer qualifies you for a Plus flag?

you should be (i think?) but there's a checker tool on the website which should let you know for certain! https://study.ed.ac.uk/undergraduate/access-edinburgh/widening-access-offers/check-if-eligible

Hi!
I'm also a Scottish applicant for law at Edinburgh. I also haven't heard back yet, so I understand the panic. I've tried to do a bit of research though, found some past threads on here where all of the Scottish applicants who replied said they got offers and rejections in late April - mid May so try not to assume that not having heard back yet is bad news, they seem to just leave it really late.
