More Durham college questions :)

Hi! I'm a prospective Durham postgrad (living out due to a pet) and would appreciate some advice on college preferences.

Castle is my dream college, but I know it's unlikely I'd be allocated a place. I also really love St John's, and I have a general preference for Bailey colleges. That said, my biggest worry is being allocated to a non-gowned college.

I'm a bit hesitant to put Castle first in case it increases the chance of being allocated a non-gowned college due to bad luck so I'm wondering if I'd be better off putting St. John's first. At the moment I'm thinking:

Castle -> St John's -> St Mary's -> Trevelyan -> Grey

Does this seem sensible, or would it be smarter to put St. John's first? Also, how easy is it to attend formals or eat at other colleges? Thanks in advance!

(Apologies for not posting in the mega-thread; I saw that it was a little inactive compared to the rest of the forum.)

I am not a Durham student but I think your approach is reasonable.

I would suggest that you probably swap Hatfield for Trevs and put it before Grey.

Thanks for the response! I do much prefer Hatfield actually, so I might put it at 4, with Trevelyan as a final buffer given it tends to be less popular among gowned colleges. I don't have a strong preference between Trev's and Grey.

Appreciate the input.
