Am i cooked or cooked? Need advice 16 yr old.

Alr so my mum went to this tuition centre where they hired like sm students from 16-18 but obvs adults too. She asked them abt whether they could hire me, they said they r gonna give me a test tmrow. For context i did my GCSEs and the test is on tht i believe (see i have no idea cuz my mum left me with not much to work out). Anyways im taking a level maths now and barely SCRAPED an 8 in GCSE. like js abt (i did edexcel and the grade boundaries SKY ROCKETED).

If it being MONTHS since i did my GCSEs and frogetting basically EVERYTHING wasn't bad enough my AMAZING mum decides to tell em i got a 9😭. like bro and when i asked her "WHY did u tell em i got a 9 when i scraped an 8?!" she goes "i thought u were one mark away from a 9" like mate i was probs one mark more than a 7🥲

so um they r probs gonna make the test really hard right cuz my sis did a test today and it was on yr 9 stuff but shes going the test to be tutored, not to tutor. Anyways she said it was non calc so im assuming mine is also gonna be non-calc and i was THE WORST at the non calc papers in GCSE, it was the calc papers which saved me.

PLS HELP. like is there much i can do between now and tmrow??? Should i js calmly walk in fail and then walk out. I will update tho if i pass and get hired or not:>

so first off, don’t even stress about your mum saying you got a 9 lol, it’s fine, just roll with it or correct ur mum.... the people doing the test aren’t expecting a genius, they just wanna see if you can handle the basics and actually try, so chill. the key tonight is to focus on stuff you can actually remember fast think fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, basic algebra like brackets and solving for x, angles, perimeter, area, Pythagoras, probability, and simple sequences. don’t waste time on trig or fancy graphs, you don’t need that for this. use the next few hours smart: skim 1–2 questions per topic from past papers, watch quick YouTube vids from corbettmaths, hegartymaths, or mr barton for the stuff you struggle with, and write a mini cheat sheet with formulas and rules you might forget. when you’re in the test, do the easy questions first, show your working even if unsure, and read the instructions properly little mistakes on non-calc stuff can cost marks. honestly, even if it doesn’t go perfectly, showing effort counts for a lot, and they might still give you the chance to train before tutoring. finally, don’t stay up cramming too late, get some sleep, and just walk in calm and focused
