Which one is a better university between Dundee and Kent for Law
Good evening, I hope you are well!
I cannot necessarily speak on Dundee, but I can speak on the University of Kent and a Law degree within the University!
The University of Kent has some of the most passionate educators which I have had the pleasure of meeting. They are fantastic at their roles and are incredibly helpful when it comes to providing insight, advice and even mentorship in your career developments.
In addition to educators, The University of Kent has an amazing campus and careers team who are very helpful in assisting with professional development; whether that's through CV's or insight weeks, there is a lot to experience!
The University of Kent campus is also incredibly spacious and welcoming with an abundance of societies available for you to get involved with. Check them out! 😁
I have attached a general link for Law Studies at the University - I greatly suggest you have a look at open days if you haven't already. Best of luck!
Which one is a better university between Dundee and Kent for Law
This is a really good question, and the honest answer is that neither Dundee nor Kent is objectively “better” in all respects.
It depends on what you want from your law degree and where you see yourself afterwards. For Law specifically, Kent generally has the stronger reputation overall. It is well known for critical legal thinking, strong teaching, and good links to practice, particularly in areas like human rights, public law, and socio-legal studies. It is also relatively close to London, which can be helpful for internships, networking, and insight events during your degree.
Dundee, on the other hand, is a solid law school, especially if you are interested in Scots law or want a smaller, more close-knit university environment. Class sizes tend to be smaller, which some students really value, and the cost of living is significantly lower than in the south of England.
Dundee is well respected in Scotland, but its reach with employers in England and Wales can be a bit more limited compared to Kent. If your aim is to qualify or work in England and Wales, Kent probably has the edge in terms of exposure, opportunities, and how employers tend to view the degree.
If you are interested in Scotland or value affordability and a smaller academic setting, Dundee can be a very good choice. What matters far more than the name on the degree is how well you do, what experience you build alongside it, and whether you are in an environment where you can thrive academically and personally.
If you want, I’m very happy to talk through your career goals and help you think about which of the two might suit you better.

Hi there, Congratulations on your offers! I am a 3rd year law student at the uni of Kent. My colleague Brandon has already shared some very useful insights and I would like to add some of the great things about Kent law school that I personally loved 😊
🔹There is opportunity to have hands on experience on real cases from the Kent law clinic which not only improves understanding of the contents but is also highly valued by employers. I have done the clinic module last term and assisted a solicitor (my supervisor) in a live housing case and was involved in conducting an in person client interview!!😁 🔹there’s a wide range of optional modules available that you can choose from in 2nd and 3rd year. The wide selection means it’s easier to find modules that align with my genuine interest and career aspirations. 🔹 the university also have lawyering skills modules such as mooting, negotiation, Client Interviews which helps students gain practical skills. I did negotiation last year and represented the uni at the York Intervarsity competition which was an enriching experience. 🔹the university also organises and participates in competitions which allows students to gain invaluable experience. I have represented Kent in the National Moot Competition and it not only enhanced my CV but also boosted my confidence. there was lots of preparation and practice session by the university which made the experience much easier and enjoyable. 🔹 Kent also have the employability scheme. The Employability Points Scheme rewards you for active engagement in co-curricular activities and any activity which enhances your employment with unique experiences of work. For each co-curricular activity completed, you can claim Employability Points. These can be cashed-in for the chance to apply for exclusive internships, work placements, training and more! You can have a look at the list of employers who participated in the scheme last year https://student.kent.ac.uk/careers/employability-points/sponsors
