Degree Apprentice in Law

Hey!
I was just looking into Degree Apprentices' in Law as I am interested in this - but I have heard that they are fairly competitive. Does anyone currently do a Degree Apprentice in Law, or is aspiring to? It would really help if you could give me some advice and insight.
I'm currently in Y11, taking my GCESs this year. 😊

Clifford Chance and Charles Russell Speechly's offer a Degree Apprenticeship I believe. You would have to look at these when you get into Year 12.

I do urge you to not go down this route, the percentage of people getting into degree apprenticeships are really low. You have a better chance of applying for a law degree.

Hi,

I'm not doing a degree apprenticeship, but I am studying law. I would recommend only doing the degree apprenticeship if you want to be a solicitor, as there currently are not any barrister apprenticeships, so you would need a degree to do bar courses, I believe.

Also, the good thing about university degrees for law is that many universities don't care what A-levels you take, just what grades you get in them (and Sunderland has a law foundation year if you accidentally don't do amazing on your A-levels as well ^-^)

Hi Zainab!

Degree apprenticeships are a fantastic route into law. Working whilst obtaining a law degree and passing the SQE exams is great, especially as you are getting paid the whole time. It is competitive, but I would urge you to apply. I would recommend also applying to university to give yourself multiple options! To strengthen your applications, look out for events directly aimed at students interested in solicitor apprenticeships. These will be run by law firms and other organisations like Legal Cheek and AllAboutLaw.

I hope this is helpful!
