Uni of Edinburgh year abroad

Helloo I'm currently a student at the university of edinburgh and i'm wondering whether i should apply for a year abroad or not. I would love to go to spain or a spanish speaking country since i already speak spanish. however, since our degrees are defautly 4 years long, does this mean i would be missing out on essential content whilst i'm on my year abroad that will stop me from graduating with a first class next year? for reference im doing bsc psychology undergrad. Any tips would be super appreciated! xx

Hi,

A year abroad can be an amazing experience, so it’s definitely worth considering. Universities usually structure it so you can complete all essential modules either before or after your year abroad, so it shouldn’t stop you from graduating with a first class. It may extend your degree by a year, so it’s worth checking all details.

I’d recommend speaking to your course lead and the study abroad team to see how your modules will fit around the year abroad and plan ahead for a smooth transition.

Hope this helps,
