Brighton or Bristol for marketing??

I've been offered unconditional places at University of Brighton as well as Bristol UWE. I would be commuting for Brighton or living in Bristol with my partner. I have been to Brighton many times so know the city very well and have never been to bristol but will visit soon before making a final decision.
What would be better for marketing??
I am going to uni not so much for the social life but to get the education I need, to work within social media and digital marketing.
Any advice on what's best and how to choose??

University of Brighton is much better for academics and much bitterly recognised by employers than Bristol UWE

Hi @Keirarose1 !

The University of Brighton's Marketing Course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is a gateway course, meaning that you can be exempt from certain modules of CIM qualifications.

Brighton are also Top 10% for graduate earnings in business and management, among universities with comparable entry levels.

The way this course is assessed will lead you to have a portfolio of work ready for you as well as having the opportunity to complete a placement year, giving you real world working experience.

I would suggest, if you can, attending one of our applicant days, that way you can speak to the course lead, lecturers as well as current students to help you make the decision that is best for you.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi @Keirarose1,

Congrats on your unconditional offers 😊.

I’m actually a marketing student at UWE who is also living with my partner in Bristol! I can share why I chose it and how I’ve found it so far from an authentic POV.

I picked UWE because the course is very practical and career-focused, especially around digital marketing and social media. I had also heard good things about Bristol. I hadn't visited much before coming but it has become my home-from-home. I genuinely couldn't recommend UWE's Marketing course more. I’ve already had several real-world opportunities thanks to UWE, including internships (paid!) via the UWE Internship Scheme, and volunteering roles, all great for the CV. I also have personally really enjoyed the assignment tasks as there is a range of project work, often allowing for creative freedom. I have particularly liked creating and designing products and campaigns for the products, which has been great for post-uni career inspiration.

It is also worth mentioning that the programme team are absolutely FAB. They are friendly and approachable, and are more than happy to help you with anything to do with your studies, or even beyond that. My programme leader has helped me apply for internships, and also has helped explain reasonable adjustments to me when I needed to apply for them. She also keeps in touch about any volunteering or other opportunities, for example, there was a recent PR opportunity for UWE students at a place called Brabazon (it's a development in north Bristol), which is GREAT for post-uni prospects.

UWE's marketing course is also accredited by the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and has the opportunity to do a CIM qualification in second year as part of one of your modules (which I'm doing this semester).

Bristol itself is a really strong city for creative and digital marketing, with lots of agencies, startups and part-time opportunities, and I’ve found it a brilliant place to be a student. There’s always something going on, but it still feels manageable and student-friendly (price wise too!).

My advice would be to compare the modules, placement options and think about where you’ll be able to get the most hands-on experience. Definitely visit Bristol too, that helped me make my decision.

Happy to answer any questions about marketing at UWE if that helps! 😊

Good luck with everything, and hope to see you here soon!
