Shared Bathroom in accomm

I don’t see any big reason to need an ensuite bathroom in my halls, but lots of people I’ve spoken to can’t imagine sharing a bathroom. For me, i share a bathroom at home, and comunal areas in halls get cleaned weekly, so i don’t see the issue.
Is there a big obvious sign im missing? why do people want ensuites so bad?

No idea - fear of germs? Ensuites weren't even a thing when I was at uni - we all survived.

Hi @buz1784 . I am a former university student and most of my friends stayed in accommodation so I know all about it. I will be honest, you are not missing any huge secret. I would say the only downside with onsuites is that it always comes down to your personal preferences ad weather you are combatable rather than it being a necessity. A lot of people go directly from having their own restroom at home to sharing one at university and also become more worries and stressed about losing that privacy and cleanliness of the bathroom as well as the ques. Even though restrooms are sanitised regularly its more about the convenience aspect and taking too long showering and not thinking about others. I would say if you are comfortable and okay with sharing restrooms i they are kept maintained, an on suite is not really compulsory, it is more of a luxury thing .

Hey @buz1784 , I hope you are good. This is honestly a great question. As someone who stays in student accommodation I do understand where you are coming from and honestly I think it all comes down to preference.

There are some people who definitely do not mind because they are used to sharing, they do not mind the fact that it costs less and overall it really just is not a bad experience for them. But for others I know it is a case where maybe they are not keen on sharing, they prefer to have privacy, sometimes it is even medical and so they would prefer ensuite. Most people again are drawn to the fact that they do not have to work with a schedule or have to work with others to organise how to share effectively.

So again, I think it ultimately comes down to what kind of person you are and what you prefer.
