Gcse tips to improve my grades!!

Hey guys!
So, I’m currently doing my GCSEs, and in the future, I want to become a pharmacist. Because of that, I picked Biology, Chemistry, and Maths. I’m thinking I might change Maths to Psychology or Sociology though, as Bio and Chem are already heavy subjects. Getting into pharmacy is quite difficult, and right now these are my predicted grades:
English Language: 6
English Literature: 7+
Maths: 6
Biology: 6
Chemistry: 6-
Physics: 6
Geography: 5+
French: 5+
Computer Science: 5-
Honestly, I’m not satisfied with my predicted grades. I think I’m capable of getting 7s and 8s in all my subjects regardless it being a subject I need or the future, and for subjects I’m strong in, I could get 9s.
I was also wondering if you have any tips for staying motivated with revising, and when I should start revising.
Thank you!

Best thing to do is know what you need to learn, read the curriculum and see what you aren't sure on. (I mostly watched videos and did past papers)

Hi @xo_aayat. Firstly, I would say It's amazing that you know in the future you want to be a pharmacist. I believe you made the right move by choosing Biology and Chemistry as it was the right move. I would say that your predicted grades are not bad , however it is totally up to you if you would like to aim higher given the fact that you believe yourself you can get 7/8/9's. In terms of pharmacy, chemistry and biology matter the most so I would say make sure to make those a priority. Maths is not crucial at GCSE level, hence swapping to phycology or sociology is okay only if you enjoy them more and that you think you will do better. I would say make a start and begin to revise briefly now such as revising for around 30-45 mins a day and then when it comes closer to exams then I would say build up your revision time. Keep motivated and make sure to revise and if you do this consistently then you will achieve those grades in no time! 😃 Good luck and hope this helped!

Hello, It sounds like you're really motivated and aware of both your strengths and demands of pharmacy, which is great starting point. Keeping maths alongside biology and chemistry is actually helpful for pharmacy applications, because it keeps your science and numeracy skills strong as you will be having to apply them within pharmacy. To boost grades: focus on active revision strategies: make shirt, focused study sessions with past papers, use flashcards for tricky topics and regularly self test rather than just rereading notes. start revising as early as possible.

Hi,

It’s great that you’re thinking ahead and motivated to improve your grades, especially with your goal of becoming a pharmacist. To make progress, it helps to plan your revision with a flexible timetable so you can cover all your subjects without feeling overwhelmed. Use your subject specifications and a RAG system (red, amber, green) to focus on your weaker areas first, but don’t neglect the subjects you’re already strong in, as refining them can push you to the highest grades. Active recall is really important, so try to do more than just read notes. Make flashcards, create mind maps, teach someone else, practice topic-by-topic questions, and then move on to full past papers.

Using good resources can make a big difference. Websites like PhysicsandMathsTutor, Seneca, MathsGenie, and BBC Bitesize are very helpful, and YouTube can be great for visual explanations or tricky topics. Keep your revision consistent by doing short, focused sessions of around 25 minutes with 5 minutes breaks in between rather than long, unfocused blocks. Start revising early with lighter, regular sessions and gradually increase intensity closer to your exams. Changing your study environment between home, libraries, or cafés, can also help keep your mind engaged.

Setting small targets and rewarding yourself when you reach them can make a big difference. If you need extra support, don’t hesitate to ask your teachers or a tutor, as they can give targeted help on topics you find tricky. With consistent effort and focus, you can definitely improve your grades and put yourself in a strong position for studying pharmacy in the future.

Hope this helps, good luck with your studies!

Hi, the key is to set, small, achievable goals rather than thinking about everything at once. Use active revision techniques like past papers, flashcards and explaining topics out loud, these work much better than rereading notes.
