Am I cooked for the A-levels I chose

Right so im completing my GCSES this year in 2026 and I wanted to say are my a-levles choices English literature, Physocglohy, (I never did physocglohy before) and geography and an EPQ butt I have noooo idea what I wanna be when im older plus a university course too.

Im scared if my choices look too random they are all different Categories which the courses in university are also quite specific but mine are random

I need to know if my choices are good and if uni would even like this combination also most importantly if they are actually doable not like extremely hard 💔

THANK YOU GUYS!

There is no such thing as “would the uni like my combination” as unis have different courses with different entry requirements.

If you chose English lit for example, I don’t see an issue. However, if you chose something like say Physics, I don’t see you getting into any uni unless a specific uni allows a Foundation route with no science background at all.

Trust me, I know what it’s like to not know what you want to do as I didn’t know what I wanted to do until I was around 19…

So I wouldn’t worry about it too much. See how your courses progress and you should be able to determine how much you enjoy it.

Best of luck!

Hi there, Thanks for your question and it’s totally normal to feel unsure about your A-level choices and how they might look for university applications.

At London South Bank University, we welcome applicants with a variety of academic backgrounds and recognise that students take different combinations of subjects. For most undergraduate degrees, LSBU expects applicants to have three A-levels with grades around the range of BBB to BCC, depending on the course you’re applying for. This means that your combination of English Literature, Psychology and Geography is absolutely a valid set of A-levels to hold when applying, even if they span different categories. The key thing for LSBU admissions officer is evidence that you are motivated, capable and committed to study at degree level, rather than having only one very specific mix of subjects.

It’s also important to know that some individual degree programmes may have specific subject preferences. For example, courses in computing or finance might ask for maths or a related subject, while health and psychology-related degrees might look more favourably at subjects that build relevant foundational knowledge. However, many courses at LSBU do not require specific A-level subjects and focus more on overall grades and your personal statement, so your current combination would still make you eligible to apply for a wide range of degrees.

Additionally, LSBU values the EPQ you’re taking because it shows independent research skills and intellectual curiosity. An EPQ can strengthen your application and demonstrate to admissions officer that you are thinking deeply about your own learning and future pathway, which is especially useful when you’re unsure about your exact career direction.

You are always welcome to explore LSBU and get a real feel for what student life is like here. We have a Southwark open day: Saturday 7th February 2026 where you can hear more about our courses and support. If you would prefer to see the campus in person you can book a tour https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/study/study-at-lsbu/open-days on a day that suits you and get a sense of the spaces you would be studying in. You can also chat to our current students https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/student-life/chat to hear honest experiences and get answers to any course questions you might have. LSBU Admissions Ambassador

As someone who's doing similar courses (English lit, geography & sociology) I'd just say be careful when considering whether or not you want to do an epq, just because English and geography both have NEAs (essentially coursework) and doing an epq on top of that might be stressful is all C:
