QMU - Masters of Radiotherapy and Oncology course schedule

I have just had an offer to do Masters of Radiotherapy and Oncology BSc (Hons) at Queen Margaret University. I was originally set on doing mifwifery but I am now drawn to this course and am considering it. I am a mature student, single mum to two children under three and live around 40 mins from campus with no traffic. Can anyone that's done this course tell me a rough idea of the timetable, how many days a week are spent on campus roughly/how much time on placements. Is there any online learning? I need to work out if I will be able to juggle the travelling with childcare as with traffic the journey can be pretty brutal round the edinburgh bypass. Are the days generally full days and has anyone had allowances made for coming in later because they have children etc? Thank you!

It's probably best to contact the department at QMU to ask for a copy of this year's timetable. Have you been offered an offer-holder day? If you have, I recommend you attend so that you can question current students and staff. Would the undergraduate course also be an option for you? It might be less intense than the masters and you would still enter the NHS on band 5.

Hello, this is the QMU Official TSR Rep!

Firstly, congratulations on your offer!

We have many mature students at our university and a lot of people do commute to our campus. As a guide, during term time, teaching is usually between 09:00 and 18:00 Monday to Thursday and 09:00 and 17:00 on Friday, with undergraduate teaching normally ending by 13:00 on Wednesdays to allow participation in sports and societies activities. Timetables should be available from early August (but subject to change). Efforts are made to make the timetables as student friendly as possible.

I would recommend you book a place on to one of our Offer Holder Days as you will have an opportunity to speak to the academics who will be teaching you, find out about the support on offer to our mature students and get a feel for the campus. It is also a great opportunity to meet other students also on the undergraduate integrated Masters course.

Please get in touch if you need any other support
