Contingency Day 2026

Hey guys I'm really panicking. I've booked interrailing for the 2026 Contingency day (without knowing) and I cannot get my money back. Does this mean that I need to cancel my trip and come back to the UK or can I go?

Does anyone know when the last Contingency day occurred?

These contingency sessions are designed to be used in the event of national or significant local disruption to examinations. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam until Wednesday 24th June 2026.

No-one has a crystal ball so no-one can tell you whether this will be required or not - or if its even 'likely'.

I did the same last year, my friends and I booked a post A level celebration holiday going on the late June contingency day without realising it. Thankfully there were no A level cancellations so we were able to go, Had anything happened I would have cancelled/rearranged the holiday last minute as A levels are far more important. IMO I think it's very rare that anything would happen and the contingency day would need to be used but of course there's still a chance it could!

Ahh okay that makes me feel a lot better thank you! Worst case scenario I will just have to cancel
