How flexible is Strathclyde for combining History & Business? 🤔

I’m interested in teaching but want to study both History and Business at Strathclyde. Has anyone done a flexible BA with both subjects and still got onto the PGDE? Any advice on picking modules? Thanks!

Hiya @quaintGhost30 🙂 The two Business subjects you can combine with History are Economics and Human Resource Management. You'd be studying within the Humanities & Social Sciences BA degree, where you'd pick another subject in your first year to go alongside the two you've chosen (e.g. something like History, Economics and Psychology, or History, Human Resource Management and English). You wouldn't be able to pick the two Business subjects as the degree is based within Humanities - so you'd pick a Humanities subject as your third. At the end of second year you narrow down your specialisms and can be flexible with how you do this.

To apply for the PGDE we look for a normal honours degree with 80 SCQF credits from degree-level study in the area you wish to teach. If you wanted to teach secondary History/Business studies by the time you finished your degree you would have the relevant credits for either area if you do well in your studies.

Hope this helps a bit!
