BTEC, Level 3 Extended Diploma In sport

Hi, I’m currently completing the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in sport and want to go onto to completing a BSc in Physiotherapy. However, a lot of Universities don’t accept the qualification i’m working towards. I’m on track for a D* D D and am looking to go to Leeds Beckett to study there. I am currently taking work experience in Physiotherapy settings so would this increase my acceptance rate even without the correct qualification? Also, along with this we also complete an additional unit with Sport Science. Would this turn Level 3 BTEC In sport to Sport Science? Should I look to going to other colleges to do Sport and Exercise Science to help my qualifications to University or would I be okay with what I have at the moment?

At CCCU, we do consider students with a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, especially with strong predicted grades like D*DD, but Physiotherapy is an Allied Health course, so entry requirements can be more specific. In most cases, applicants with BTEC Sport are best suited to applying via a Physiotherapy Foundation Year, which is designed exactly for students in your position and leads directly onto the BSc if you pass.
Your physiotherapy work experience is a big positive and will really strengthen your application and interview. It shows commitment and understanding of the profession. The additional Sport Science unit is useful academically, but it doesn’t convert the qualification into Sport Science for entry purposes.
You wouldn’t need to move colleges or redo your Level 3. A foundation route at CCCU would allow you to progress without losing time, and many of our Physiotherapy students have come through this pathway successfully.
