Yay!!! That’s fantastic!! Congratulations. I’m currently in year 11. Live locally and really really want to go to KMMS! Did you go to a grammar school? I go to a grammar school and I’m worried it will work against me. How was the selection process? Thank you

Also, which A levels are you doing?

Hey!
Thank you! No, I don't go to a grammar school (quite the opposite since I'm a contextual applicant). However, I highly doubt this would affect you since grammar schools aren't private schools and still count as state schools...I think? I do bio, chem, psych too. Which a levels are you thinking?
I think they rank your GCSEs and UCAT and then give you an interview score. GCSEs are much more important than you think for med so no pressure! But Im finding a levels much easier

Thank you! Im do the core subjects and then classics , sociology and RE. Agree completely- GCSE’s will make a massive difference. Did you find UCAT hard? When did you start preparing? Any tips? Thank you

Core subjects? I think your school/college may do it a bit differently as I just chose 3 a levels. I really don’t recommend doing more than 3 because it won’t help for med unless you are thinking about further maths for oxbridge.

The UCAT is the biggest factor in applications I would say. The thing about the UCAT is that it’s very different to your normal revision. It isn’t a marathon it’s a sprint kinda logic. I started about 3 months before my exam. 1st month is all about getting familiar with the format and style of questions- I would say brush up on your mental maths too. Then the penultimate month, I did a full mock every week at the same time of my real exam and ANALYSE why you got it wrong and note this down so you can see a pattern. Then the last month is rough but just doing mocks everyday (or every other day) at the time of your exam.

But at the start of lower sixth don’t even think about the UCAT. Just make sure you are very organised, and make flashcards as you go.

Hope this helps
