Trinity College Dublin

Hi so I have just completed my CAO- I am only applying to one course in Trinity, however when I went to the choices section it said it was restricted due to an application process (I was aware of this) . I have put it down as my first choice on CAO but when I went to the actual course and scrolled down for non-EU students (I live in N.I) applying it brought me to Trinity's website to apply through there and is now asking for a personal statement, reference etc. I am now freaking out and don't understand whether to apply through CAO or what. Someone please help!!

TU Dublin, although not Trinity, recommends using the CAO for NI students. https://www.tudublin.ie/study/undergraduate/cao/entry-routes/applying-from-ni/

Also, how else would you apply to an Irish college, they don't accept UCAS 😅

There is also information here: https://www.tcd.ie/study/apply/making-an-application/undergraduate/cao/
They state that EU, Swiss and UK students apply through CAO. You shouldn't be applying through Trinity's site, you should be applying on the CAO site.

This was exactly my dilemma, why did I (classified as an EU student) receive an email from Trinity's academic registry to a link to the course I listed on CAO telling me to do it through Trinity's website. It makes 0 sense as obviously if I'm going through CAO I'm an EU student. I'm not freaking out over it now but very weird. 🤔

Probably an error on their side-- I'd reccomend emailing about it, but you should definitely be going through CAO.
