A2 and AS levels all in the same year

How hard is it to resit all AS exams simultaneously to doing the A level exams and perform exceptionally well.

Doing AS exams wouldnt be too difficult if you are competent enough to be doing A level exams. I do not understand why you would want to do this though, is there a specific reason? The main issue you may face will be with timetable clashes and many exams in close proximity to each other, even if the AS content is part of the a level you will still have all the stress of sitting the exams which are quite long for a level papers. The AS exams might be a couple of weeks before the a level ones, if this was so youd be tired from doing the AS exams and have little energy to focus on the a level papers which are far more important.

Hey @shaggy-delicacy,

This was the case for a few students in my A-Level Chemistry class - they needed an A for the course they wanted to do at university and would have struggled to achieve it with their current AS grades (they needed near full marks in their A2 papers to have a chance of getting an A). This meant they decided to resit their AS exams whilst simultaneously taking their A2 exams. (I studied in Northern Ireland, where AS grades contributed 40% to the overall A-Level; I know this is not the case in England).

It's possible, but from what I remember about their experience it was also quite hard. You're doubling the amount of content you need to know in a subject, and although lots of the material might already be familiar to you, it's nonethless lots of material. If you need to resit your AS grades to secure the A2 grade you want, it can definitely be done, but otherwise it's better to focus solely on your A2 exams.

Hope this helps and best of luck,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
