Worried about not knowing anyone at Kingston

I'm applying for Adult Nursing at Kingston Uni but I don't know anyone there and feel a bit nervous. Has anyone else started at Kingston without knowing people? How easy is it to make friends on the course or in halls? Any tips for meeting new people? 😊
The majority of students starting degrees don't know anyone on the course they're doing or even at their uni! So everyone else will be in the same boat

Just remember that and don't feel nervous introducing yourself to people

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better
I guess everyone's in the same situation when starting out! ☺️

Hey,

I started Kingston without knowing anyone and now I have great friends there!

Everyone is in the same boat and I felt this especially at the beginning being in halls we all went out together and spent time with each other, which was nice as we all didn't know anyone else.

I also think my course is where I made most of my friends as I met others through people on my course and you spend time in lectures and working on group projects giving you time to get to know people.

Joining a society (cheerleading) was another thing that worked for me as there were socials that got me out meeting people and just attending the weekly training was a great way to broaden my friendships and interact with a range of people.

I also found part-time work a good way to meet people. I am a student ambassador and have a recent post I can share to give you an insight into what I get up to What my role as a Kingston student ambassador entails

A tip I would also give is try not to have too many expectations of making really good friends straight away, friendships take time to build so spend time with people and don't expect to be super close over night. I am still making friends even in my third year at uni, it doesn't all just happen on day one, but there are some many opportunities throughout your time at uni to meet new people and make new friends

I hope this helps and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Hello,

This is completely normal, but the best thing about nursing is that you will definitely end up knowing people and making friends. There a lot of groupings and seminars in adult nursing and everyone ends up knowing each other. So course-wise, it’s very easy to make friends.
In halls too, you might end up being close with your flatmates 😊

Welcome to Kingston😊

Hi, I can also attest to the fact that I did not know anybody studying at Kingston let alone knew the Kingston area as a whole. I would talk to people in my course I think it's easier to bond on the fact that you study the same subject. Also, joining societies I know that's helped many people who I know mingle.
