Year 2 uni

Good afternoon,
I have a question I’m studying criminology with forensic psychology at a university in the midlands. And was just wondering if lectures and seminars will I have more? What’s the difference in work load. What’s different.
I currently have 11 hours in total (3 half days) 7 hours lectures 4 hours of seminars. Will this be the same or different?

You will almost certainly have a larger independent work load in year 2, but as to your contact hours, it's harder to say because it can vary according to uni and degree. If you know somebody in the year above you, it's well worth asking. If not, your year course rep should hopefully know some people in the year above and be able to ask them any questions about workload, lectures and seminars specific to your uni.

Hey @lilyhundre,

As mentioned above, the workload should be larger but the contact hours may differ depending on lecturer/staff availability and module content. In my second year at Kingston, contact hours were slightly reduced as we were trusted to be more independent in our studies than the incoming first years who still needed to adapt to studying at university-level.

Make sure to also read the course page on your university's website - some universities list what percentage of the workload per year is scheduled learning and teaching.

Hope this helps,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
