From what I have heard from Imperial they are not giving out offers for the chemistry department until all interviews are done in March time.

Hi when did you apply if you don't mind saying and what course did you apply for + predicted grades?

Is Chemistry at Imperial taught at the White City campus? The Chemistry course at UCL is taught in Bloomsbury, just a stone's throw from the main building. That might be a factor to consider.

Yeah I was lucky and got first week of interviews back in November. I don't think when you get the interview is any real indication of strength of candidate though, I just applied very early (September).

The grades definitely sound fine to me at least, and I doubt they care much at all about an EPQ unless its something to talk about at interview. I wouldnt worry too much and if you read relevant books then it definitely sounds like you have a good chance at interview!

Not one I read personally but ive heard good things, I mostly read some like first year textbooks. In my interview they didnt explicitly ask about my reading but my knowledge from them was useful to answer their questions so I would focus on getting a good understanding. The actual format of the interview was half asking about my interests in studying at Imperial and why chemistry and then the other half was just technical with a brief question about something I mentioned on my ps.

Oh okayy thank you this helped a lot yk for why i want to study there the main reasons for me is because of their research and that im really interested in their particular modules esp for the med chem stream the drug discovery and molecular modelling is very interesting (I also did talk about x-ray crystallography in my ps) what are your reasons?

Reply 14

Yeah I had similar reasons, I talked about a couple of their modules which I found interesting. I want to go into drug discovery so the med chem modules sounded particularly interesting to me and I linked that to my work experience when I was working in a drug discovery lab. I think as long as you can articulate your reasons then no reason is really better than another but I'm not entirely sure.
