Oxford tutorials – What’s it really like?

I'm interested in Oxford's tutorial system for Chemistry/Materials science, but not sure if it suits me. I enjoy problem-solving but a bit nervous about the pace/intensity. For those with real experience: what surprised you? Any tips to prepare, or signs I'd thrive (or struggle) in this environment? Thanks! 😊

Way less unnerving than you'd imagine. I'm an extremely shy/introverted person but have had no problems with tutorials. There's the odd tutor who can be needlessly harsh but the vast majority are very chill about it and don't care if you get things wrong or just say you didn't understand something.

I was nervous that it would be some super intense debate where your tut partner is your "opponent", especially as I do law, but that hasn't happened once. Though one thing I will say is some tutors just make someone read their essay out and ask others to give feedback for the whole tutorial and those ones always feel particularly useless.
