What do you do as a student ambassador?

Hi everyone,

I thought it would be helpful to share what we each get up to as a student ambassador to give those considering it more of an ideaof what the role is like from uni to uni.

For me some of the following jobs I have worked as a student ambassador are ...

- Of course TSR!! I log on here every week to respond to all of your questions and write these posts.

- Open days. These are one of my favourite events to work at as I get to speak to lots of potential students, also a great way to make friends and catch up with current students/colleagues. Plus, there is usually free ice cream, brownies and other treats toenjoy on shift! Here I have worked doing campus tours, welcome desk and check in.

- Higher Education Fairs. For these events I travel to different sixth forms and colleges in the London area to speak to the students and answer their questions about Kingston and university. I found this especially great in first year as it was a good wayto explore London. It was also fun to meet ambassadors from other uni's there

- Welcome week / Freshers. There are lots of ways you get involved when new students join both in September and January. Ihave helped students move into accommodation, been on welcome desks, given campus tours and worked welcome events.

- Graduations. Another favourite as it is such a nice day to see everyone graduating and help them celebrate their day by giving directions, taking photos and making sure the events run smoothly.

- Assessment centres. Level 5 students get great experience of what a job assessment centre might be like with mockinterviews, group tasks and presentations. As a student ambassador I helped at these events by firstly helping students get totheevent by guiding them on the bus and to the location. Then throughout the day giving directions and answering any questionsthey may have.

Share below what you get up to!
