Child nursing interview

Hi everyone 😊
I’ve received interview offers for Child Nursing from Oxford Brookes, the University of Southampton, Brunel University, and the University of Greenwich. All of my interviews are virtual, except Brunel, which will be in person.
I’ve already started preparing, but I wanted to ask for advice from students who have been through nursing interviews. Do you have any tips, or remember any common or challenging questions, especially for panel interviews?

Hi @Diofe ,

I hope you're well! Here is a page of tips written by one of our Student Ambassadors. Although you've applied elsewhere, the concepts are very similar such as the 6 C's. Best of luck with your interview!!

Hello 👋
I hope you are well.
It is great to hear that you have an interview for the BSc Children's Nursing course at Oxford Brookes University 🎉
The entry requirements for this course include relevant experience (e.g. in a hospital) or a suitable indication of your interest in, and understanding of, the relevant healthcare profession. This means you might expect to answer questions about working with children and families and your strong interest for becoming a nurse 🩺
You might also find it useful to take a look at our interviews webpage for more useful information to help you prepare.☺️
Don't worry, just be yourself in the interview and we look forward to hopefully welcoming you onto campus very soon!!

Did Oxford Brookes request an additional personal statement? I sent my additional statement at the end of December and they said I would hear back soon on 5th January and I haven't heard anything... Did you get your interview offer recently?

Hiya 😊 congratulations on your interviews! I can only speak from a University of Southampton perspective, but hopefully this helps with both reassurance and preparation.
Southampton’s Child Nursing interviews are very values-based. They’re designed to understand you as a future nurse rather than catch you out. Expect questions around your motivation for child nursing, communication with children and families, safeguarding, teamwork, resilience, and the 6Cs. Panel interviews are usually friendly and supportive, so take your time, reflect, and link answers to real experiences.
For official Southampton prep resources, these are really useful:
A good way to practise is writing answers, then saying them out loud. Be genuine and reflective; that’s what Southampton values most. Good luck, you’ve got this. 💙
