Year 10 work experience

I was thinking of doing my year 10 work experience in a bank or at a business because I am intrigued to learn and understand how they are run.

However, I know it's pretty hard to find work experience in year 10, and finding work experience in a bank is even harder.
I've noticed that many places don't advertise their work experience, if at all and that many people who I have spoken to have gotten work experience through directly contacting companies or asking people who work there if they could shadow them.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I should email people asking if they are open to me shadowing them.
I don't want to come across as annoying by asking them that and I don't know if I will just be ignored , also how would I even email them? Should I ask through their company email or an employees email?

Edit:
I think I'll do work experience at a bank near me but I'm still trying to organise it with my school.

Im doing work experience this year aswell, since ur mostly likely under 16 most places arent going to hire you. Year 10 work experience doesn’t rlly matter it’s js to see what it’s like. The one you do in sixth form is more important because by then u will be 16 so there will be more opportunites. I’d say the best option is a library, ur primary school or follow ur parents to work

I would go into the places in person. Explain that you have to do your year 10 work experience and ask if they would be able to take you on/accommodate that.
You would usually have to speak to the manager about it.

Last year I did my yr 10 work experience in a Specsavers (they were super organised and helpful by the way as a company) and I rang the shop and just asked whether it was possible. After that we set up communication through email and my schools platform for work experience, unifrog. Many of my friends emailed local shops/ businesses to find a placement.

If you are looking for something specific like a bank you could ask your teacher in charge of work experience if they have had previous placements at any local banks. If you try contacting a bank directly just remember that the worst they can say is no and you can always try other places.

Don't worry if you can't do exactly what you wanted as it is good experience just being in a workplace and feeling what it's like. Work experience isn't super important really. Helpful, but not essential.

Good luck getting a placement! 🙂
