Porsche.

The popularity is not reasonable in my view, it is an overrated and ugly brand. Looks like that German brand are unpopular as a rule.

They're all just jealous 😅

I have a lot of love for older German cars, I've had Audis, Merc & Porsche but the repairs were always a killer and esp the age they are now more and more garages just refuse to touch them. The newer ones really don't have the same reliability or engineering and all just seem to look the same & overloaded with half baked tech, I think they've all heavily diluted their previously premium branding.

Which preference do you have, if I may ask? there are so many brands, almost all better than Porsche.

I dont like Dacia either.
After BMW- Dacia is my second least favourite car brand. I dont know if it is just me but they come across as cheap and nasty as well.
I have nothing against Volkswagen. Actually i quite like Volkswagens. Never had one myself though.

I agree. I've never liked the look of the noses of BMW's. And the latest generation with the sharp edged grills look particularly bad compared to the previous 3 generations.

However, where BMW's score, especially with the 6 cylinder versions, is what they are like when you're sitting in the driving seat and you're driving. With that including pootling round town at 20 to 30 mph, cruising on British motorways at 70 mph, or bowling along a quiet scenic B road, or blasting along an Autobahn. With them being so good in this respect that it's easy to forgive their looks, and their - at times - iffy reliability record when compared to some other brands.

For an interesting half day out, find a local dealer selling an F30 330D or 335D and take it for a test drive.

Go on Autotrader, search for BMW 3 series, 2013 to 2018, diesel engine, over 250 hp. Sort by distance from you.
Most, if not all, the dealers that come up will not be BMW specific dealers. They will be general car dealers. With a high proportion of them being the sort that I would never buy from (due to them likely being a nightmare to deal with in the event of a major fault coming to light in the first month of ownership).
