Do you have a chance in the August Reconsideration Pool if not Winter Pooled?

The official published statistics show that like 80% of successful ARP candidates were orginally Winter Pooled, but does this necessarily indicate that Winter Pooled students are automatically favoured? Could it just be self-selection? I.e. is it possible that those most likely to get 3 A*s and put themselves forward for the ARP after results day tend to be the stronger candidates that were Winter Pooled in January, therefore leaving few who weren't originally Winter Pooled to even be considered?

I do not think it shows automatic favouritism. It is more likely self-selection: the strongest candidates are Winter Pooled early on. Those same candidates are then the ones most likely to get 3 A* and apply for ARP. So the statistic reflects the pipeline, not preference.
