Education and health

Hey everyone, I was just wondering whether anyone can relate or have any advice when it comes to trying to balance A-Levels alongside physical and mental health. I have struggled with bad mental health for a long time but managed to find the motivation to pass my GCSE's, which I did. I've been studying 3 A-Levels now since September and I am finding it so challenging, I am in sixth form and not college too. I'm also in and out of hospital frequently and have many appointments, trying to balance this all while looking after myself and completing homework/work is so exhausting. I'm struggling to find the motivation for it all. What should I do?

I was the same. I always made my teachers aware and was very transparent, and my 6th form had good mental health support. I'd say not to stress too much, and give yourself plenty of breaks tbh. But honstly a lot of the time I didn't complete homework and instead used that time to make revision resources. It sucks but I just forced myself to learn and revise starting from Jan in year 13. Since you're only a few months in genuinely don't stress. Be transparent and your teachers will give you lenience on homework and deadlines. My 6th form made us do multiple essays per teacher per subject, and I always managed to narrow it down because it was just too much to the point where it wasn't even helping me. Good luck! It sucks but also just remember that its now barely a year to go of hard work, for a life of ease if you do well!

Hi @fox133. I understand entirely how stressful and overwhelming this must all feel especially when trying to keep up with A level, your own health and those appointments at the hospital. I can understand it must be challenging and you have every right to be feeling drained and feeling not as motivated. The main and most crucial thing here is to make sure to prioritise your wellbeing. My advice would be to speak with your tutors and your 6th form support staff about any medical needs. Also, breaking up all your work in smaller chunks may be more convenient and more manageable and it would be better concentrate on one thing at a time. Also I would suggest reaching out to a councillor so they can give you the most best techniques to help you become less anxious! I hope this helped and hope you feel better soon!
