Hi there, thanks for your question.

At London South Bank University, our marketing provision is designed around practical application, employability and industry relevance. Our Marketing courses are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing and emphasise real world projects, live briefs with companies, industry guest speakers and applied workshops that bring marketing theory into practice. Students on these programmes work on brand centric tasks, campaign strategy and digital communications and the courses are assessed entirely through coursework rather than exams, which suits learners who prefer project based assessment and reflective work over traditional exams. There’s also the option to take a year long professional placement to gain real industry experience as part of your degree, supported by our Business School’s employability team. Students benefit from our location in London with access to networks and internship opportunities that can directly inform their future careers.

You are always welcome to explore LSBU and get a real feel for what student life is like here. We have a Southwark open day: Saturday 7th February 2026 where you can hear more about our courses and support. If you would prefer to see the campus in person you can book a tour https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/study/study-at-lsbu/open-days on a day that suits you and get a sense of the spaces you would be studying in. You can also chat to our current students https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/student-life/chat to hear honest experiences and get answers to any course questions you might have.

Hey JoanneGW my name is Craig and I’m the course leader for Digital and Social Media Marketing at the University of Staffordshire. I feel we might meet your requirements from above for a digital marketing degree but would love the chance to chat with you further. We have a high number of students who partake in a placement year for experience and the ratio of exams to coursework looks like it would suit. Would love to invite you to visit us on campus to take a view for yourself either on our next open day or privately. Here we would be able to display our facilities and course content with you. Happy also to chat via Microsoft Teams too 🙂. Here is a link to our next open day https://www.staffs.ac.uk/visit and our course information https://www.staffs.ac.uk/course/digital-social-media-marketing-bsc. Happy to help 🙂

Hey @JoanneGW

I currently study marketing at UWE and I really enjoy it.

Marketing is such a versatile subject, and UWE has a course that fits really well with what you’re looking for.
The course strongly focuses on real-world marketing, consumer insight, branding and behaviour, rather than heavy business or economics theory. Most marketing courses will contain some business and economics, especially if they're accredited like UWE's, but I haven't found it to be too much at all (which is good as its not my strong point). The course places a strong emphasis on applied projects, campaigns, industry briefs and understanding why consumers behave the way they do, which makes it ideal if you’re more interested in insights, creativity and practical skills than spreadsheets and econ. One module i did recently which I think you would enjoy is 'Consumer behaviour', which studied the psychology behind what makes consumers tick.

One of the big strengths of the course is its relevance to industry:

You’ll work on live briefs with real client challenges, building campaigns and strategies

There’s a strong focus on consumer psychology, brand development, digital marketing and creative communication

Assessment is more coursework and project-based rather than exam-heavy, you’ll build portfolios, presentations and campaign plans that mirror real marketing work.

UWE also offer an optional placement year, so you can spend a full year gaining paid industry experience before your final year. That’s brilliant for your CV and helps you stand out when applying for grad schemes or jobs after university. I know a few people who have done this, and a few of them have managed to secure graduate jobs by doing this too!.

UWE also has a good reputation overall. It has well-regarded in industry connections and being in Bristol, it gives you access to a vibrant commercial and creative scene with lots of agencies, brands and events to tap into.

Here’s a link to the course page if you want more detail: https://courses.uwe.ac.uk/N500/marketing

Hope that helps! Happy to answer any follow-ups 😊
