A Level Exam resits prices

I only have around £300 from working but I could maybe request my parents for a loan if I really have to but I highly doubt they could even do that, but my old school requests around £300 per exam that I do, and they've got to send it by Friday. I have to resit all 3 of my exams (OCR A Level Biology, OCR A Level Chemistry and AQA A Level Psychology). I'm so stuck because this is during my gap year and I'm trying to enter foundation medicine. I live in a town near Birmingham if that helps but honestly I'm so stressed.

Hello,
I was in a similar position as I didn't do too well on my chem AQA exams and I needed maths Alevel as my sixth form didn't originally offer it to me when I joined back in September despite being told it was okay (that's another story).
So I took a gap year this year, and the price for me came to £1130+ (exams plus mocks for UCAS and paid for AAO application, so it may not be the exact costs it's probably a bit more but I can't remember as I did it in December, I think it was like £650 ish) with £320 travel costs but you are lucky as they offering for you sit your exams at your school.

I would have loved if my sixth form offered the opportunity for retakes, I would say take it if you have already applied to UCAS or planning to next year as it's quite reasonable price, it is the base price, you can't go any lower as that's what exam broads charge the school.
⚠️ Be careful as after Friday the charging more as you'll be entered as a late and that would charge the school more ⚠️

If you're struggling with costs, I can suggest what I've done / planned to do in September if things go south.

GOV Child trust fund, it could range from £400-£1000

Working (which luckily was the majority of my payments but took like £240ish from my GOV child trust as I didn't plan to have marks there was suggested by my old six form)

If your parents are worried about you paying them back, you are able to get a written agreement there's templates online where you agree to set conditions to borrow money from them, this was my worse comes to worst and my parents said that it would be okay (⚠️this is legally binding so be careful⚠️).

I know quite a few student doctors that retook the A levels and still got in so it's definitely possible.
Good luck to whatever you do. 🤞
I know this is a lot so hopefully you've got something out of this.🤭
