The Student Room Group

Student Finance application starting September 2026

I have a part-time job at moment earning about 9k-11k annually, but will be quitting my job when I begin studying at university. As it stands without the job, I would be eligible for the maximum loan as home income is below 25k, but with my part time job I would receive less. How should I go about this going forward?

Hi there,

When we assess a students household income we do not take their earned income into consideration when assessing their entitlement for a Maintenance Loan. How old are you, are you single, have a partner or married? Do you have any children?

Thanks, Drew

Hi there, then we would base the assessment on your sponsors financial information as you are aged under 25. unless you are able to provide 36 months of self supporting evidence? (evidence to show that you have supported yourself financially for 3 years prior to the start of the academic year) Stephen
