Summer Vacation Scheme Deloitte Waitlisted

I did the final stage and got this email, I would like to know if people actually get offers after being waitlisted AND whether or not everyone who does the final stage gets waitlisted or only some?

Email: We have spent time reviewing your assessment responses and unfortunately, whilst you performed well, we will not be making you an offer at this time. However, we would like to include you in our waitlist should an additional opportunity arise in the future.

What does this mean for me?

This means that should an additional opportunity become available, we may reach out to you to discuss next steps. This could be for the original role you applied to or for another role and/or location where your profile matches what we are looking for.

How does it work? 

We may have a number of candidates on the waitlist. If an opportunity becomes available for this role, we will reach out in order of suitability to the waitlist candidates. We are not able to confirm your position on the waitlist.
