Optometry DMU

Hi,

Are there any mature students, 21+ applying to study optometry at DMU. I’m 23 and considering applying
Hiya lovely
Even though it personally dont know about the amount of mature students applying for said course. Mature students are always more than welcome at DMU! 👏

Being 23+ actually isn’t unusual at all, many people start their degree later for all sorts of reasons (career change, gap years, working first, etc.). One of my close friends from my course is actually 26 and another one im close with is 43 so you get a wide range of ages in university courses. Optometry programmes at DMU and other UK universities value diverse life experience, and mature applicants usually bring strong motivation, maturity, and real-world perspective to their studies.

So yes, if you’re 21+ and thinking about applying, you absolutely should you’ll be in good company, and your age won’t be a barrier. 😊

Kind regards Aneta PhD Chemistry

Is the de Montfort optometry programme newly introduced as I’m so upset because it actually such a good uni to apply for but when applying before the ucas deadline back in January I didn’t come across de Montfort on the official ucas courses for optometry so now can I even still apply for it I’m so annoyed that I didn’t even know and now I might not even get in .

Oh okay but how would I apply would I have to wait for ucas extra and then apply as my ucas I’ve used up all my five choices and doesn’t let me add another I’ve already sent an email to dmu with my predicted grades and current qualifications idk what to do and what if all the places fill up by the time I can actually apply on ucas extra and I no longer can’t get a space

Hi there,
UCAS Extra is already open and you can find the details here: UCAS Extra | No Offers? Add More Choices With Our 'Extra' Service. Please make sure to review the information on that page carefully and make a decision only after you made sure that you meet the criteria for our Optometry course.

Best wishes,

Hi there,

Our Optometry course is new and has very limited spaces available for the next intake. It is very likely that we will fill out all available spaces in the next 1-2 weeks and the course will never enter clearing.
