Hi Everyone, Did anyone here buy PGDL Bible? Is anyone looking to buy PGDL Bible? Message me privately. This is for Postgraduate Diploma in Law and PGDL Bible is a revision resource that I wanted to buy, but looking for reviews.
I'm currently studying the PGDL and personally haven't purchased the PGDL Bible - I already get the online version of the PGDL textbooks for free as part of my course at the University of Law, and I find that these are more than capable of explaining topics both clearly and with the necessary depth (and I don't really have much money to spare on additional resources!).
For me, writing my own notes is part of the learning process and I would worry that relying on external resources would somewhat limit this. I understand that a concise bank of notes may be useful for the open-book exams, but I found it easy enough to ctrl + F through my textbooks when needed and use my own answer structures I had created for each topic. Furthermore, if you are planning to do the SQEs afterwards, you must remember that these are not open-book exams - it's important to make sure you're internalising the PGDL content now rather than becoming overly dependent on external aids.
If you do find it difficult to structure your own notes and perhaps are limited for time, I can understand that the PGDL Bible may be a useful investment - but please don't feel you need to purchase it in order to succeed. I know plenty of students who simply used the university textbooks and achieved distinctions 😊
I haven’t personally bought it, but a few people in my cohort have. From what they’ve said, it’s more tailored towards the University of Law syllabus rather than BPP (which makes sense, as that’s where the original author studied).
That said, it can still be a useful supplementary resource if you use it alongside your own notes and lecture materials, rather than relying on it alone. Personally, I couldn’t really justify the £129 price tag. I preferred to make my own condensed notes instead, which is working well for me and helps me understand the content better.
So it can be helpful, but I wouldn’t say it’s essential. Definitely not something you need to succeed as mentioned above.
