Speech and language therapy and Linguistics

I know they're adjacent courses but are they similar enough? I'd probably like to apply for both courses at Sheffield, SLT at Reading and Linguistics as well as Linguistics and Philosophy at Leeds. Do you think they're too different to write a personal statement on?

Hi @Frosty330

That's a great question. 😊

I definitely think those courses are similar enough. If you need some specific advice on how to write a personal statement for multiple courses, check out this UCAS articles:

How to write a personal statement that works for multiple courses: 2026 entry | UCAS

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,

Honestly I think you need to first make the decision as to whether you want to be a SLT or not and get some work experience…..you may shoot yourself in the foot and are possibly more likely to to be rejected if you aren’t showing commitment to a vocational healthcare course that is competitive. If you do apply to a healthcare course and another course at the same time, you should ask if you can send a second personal statement directly to the university.
