im dropping out atp. i give up

hi guys back again. so im yr 12 studying econ politics and psych and i just got my mocks back and I got D C D. I revised alot and Im really upset about them. I thought i would do better from last time (i got C C C). I really revised this time but the thing is I can’t seem to finish my papers on time and I dont have any learning disabilities and it takes me a while to understand the question because of the way its worded. I really did try. I just feel so hopeless and I honestly want to give up on a levels and trying in general. This might even affect my predicted grades for university. My parents were expecting me to get As and Bs this time and I feel like a failure. Maybe a levels isnt for people like me :frown:(

You’re not a failure, and this doesn’t mean A levels “aren’t for people like you.” You sound like someone who does understand the content but gets screwed over by time pressure and horrible exam wording which is incredibly common and not a reflection of intelligence or effort. You revised, you cared, and you tried, and it’s devastating when the results don’t show that, especially with parents expecting more. But mocks aren’t a final judgement, predicted grades can change, and this is a skills issue timing, decoding questions, exam technique, not a “you” issue. Feeling hopeless right now is understandable, but it doesn’t mean you should give up this moment hurts, but it doesn’t define you or your future, even if it feels like it does right now.

Hi, I can assure you that 1 you aren't a failure and 2 a lot of Year 12s are in the same situation as you and you're not alone. My advice is try as much practise questions as you can as it'll get you more used to how the questions would roughly be laid out (I know you did say you revised a lot but this method tends to work effectively not only for myself but for most of my friends and people I know too) (And don't forget try doing them in timed conditions so you can adapt to exam mode and by the time you do your mocks/exams you'd be so used to it that you'd just think it's what you do every day and go for it without a doubt). And I just also want you to know that there are people out there with A*A*A* who were getting Cs and Ds in their mocks in Year 12 so it means it is quite possible to get your grades back up to what you deserve and the fact that you have a year to improve your grades. Progress > perfection, even if it's only a past paper it's still progress. It's almost impossible to notice your progress in a short period of time, but keep going and don't give up!! Eventually it'll be a big step up, and the small amount of progress you make every day would result in a drastic improvement over time. Once again, you're not alone!! We're all here for you when you need us
