The Secret History English Literature NEA

okay so for my english lit coursework i want to do donna tartt's the secret history, but i have no idea what pre-1900 text i should compare it to? i have these ideas for themes/ideas within the novel, but i'm still struggling.

- Treatment of women in academia
- Presentation of elitism in academic settings
- Impacts of guilt on the mind
- The romanticisation of Ancient Greece
- Presentation of religious psychosis

if anyone has any ideas for books/plays/poems that i could use, it'd be greatly appreciated! thank you!

For guilt, presentation of women, and maybe romanticisation of Ancient Greece, I think Carmilla could be an option? I can’t think of any exact matches (I did TSH with The Great Gatsby, but that’s post-1900s), but books with similar ideas/themes could be Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Dracula, or maybe something by Poe?
