Advice for Leicester Student Ambassador assessment centre?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been invited to the assessment centre for the Leicester Student Ambassador role and I’m feeling a bit nervous.
If anyone has attended one before, I’d really appreciate any advice

Hey @HarnishaPatel!

I obviously didn't attend a University of Leicester Student Ambassador Centre - but I am a student ambassador at Kingston and attended an assessment centre there, so I thought I'd chip in.

One of the key things that my university was looking for in their student ambassadors when I was hired was simply being warm and welcoming to others. A lot of student ambassador work involves tasks such as helping out at Open Days or attending Higher Education fairs, and it's important that applicants or prospective students feel like they can they approach you if they have any questions or worries. Smiling goes a long way, as does gently encouraging others to speak up if you think their voices aren't being heard.

Activities will likely differ between assessment centres, but there'll probably be one or two group activities - after all, part of being a student ambassador is working alongside other student ambassadors! 😁

Hope this helps,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

Hello Harnisha,

Leicester senior ambassador here! It's great that you have made it to the assessment centre, congratulations!

Really what we want to see when you come to the assessment centre is the real authentic you. We want someone with good communication, teamwork and customer service skills and a positive attitude towards higher education. You don't need to worry too much about these things at the assessment centre because you've already demonstrated them in your personal statement and so we are satisfied.

One of the best things about working as an ambassador is that everyone is so friendly and we are all such great people who get along and work well together. Therefore, as this is the first time the ambassador team will see you in person please just be yourself. Try not to be someone you're not as this will only backfire for you.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or anything at all please do let me know.
