Hi,
I took a gap year before starting university and absolutely loved it. I used my time to get a part time job as well as do some travelling. I found sixth form very intense and wanted a break before jumping into university! I think taking a gap year made me a much more well-rounded student and I felt more prepared to start my course. Most universities will not think negatively of a gap year, especially if you are able to reflect on why you want one and use that year to develop your skills and interests. Of course, ultimately the decision is a personal one, but I think a gap year is a fantastic opportunity and won't affect your chances of getting into a good university.
I hope this helped,
Frankie (final year medical student)
