Buses in Bristol to get to Bower Ashton Campus UWE?

I am currently deciding on where to choose for my accommodation in Bristol but I cannot for the life of me figure out the buses and how they'd factor into which accommodation to choose, currently my choice on accommodation is leaning Cherry Court but again the buses are a big issue! I want to be able to take one bus from accommodation to campus, I'm already worried about the cost of buses so taking two or more to get to a campus would be awful, if anyone has any information on this that would be really helpful!

it's easy peasy from Cherry Court as you are eyeball distance from the Bus &Coach station!! take the X4 (direction Portishead)and get off at Clanage rd probably easiest and closest drop off but also X1 or U2 to Winterstoke Rd.

Hi @Skyebi

Great to hear you'll be coming to UWE!

Since you’ll be based at Bower Ashton Campus, city-centre accommodation like Cherry Court or other central halls (like Nelson and Drake house) is ideal. Most of the main buses to Bower Ashton, including the X1, X4, X6, and X9, all pass through the city centre, so you can catch them from stops near your accommodation (like Bristol Bus Station or nearby stops) and get to campus with just one bus and a short walk. The journey is usually fairly quick (around 20 mins).

In terms of cost, most Bristol buses use fare capping, so if you pay with contactless tap-on, tap-off using the same card or device it means that even if you take more than one bus in a day, you won’t pay more than the daily cap. It also often works out cheaper if you pre-buy tickets on the app, as there are bundle discounts. Most students travelling from city-centre accommodation only need the one bus to Bower Ashton anyway, but it’s still worth factoring transport costs into your budget or looking into a student weekly/monthly bus pass if you’ll be travelling regularly.

I'd recommend downloading the First bus app, and/or looking at their website, as it helps with planning and outlines bus routes. Here is the link to the website: https://www.firstbus.co.uk.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
