Where is best to study fashion promotion?

I currently have 4 unconditional offers to study fashion promotion related courses, my top 2 being Man Met and Salford. I still haven't heard back from CSM but if I do it will be my top choice...

I'm struggling to decide which would be better as my option if I don't get into CSM- Fashion image making & styling at salford or Fashion art direction at Man Met?

Have you visited the universities for open days? Sometimes you can get a good idea of the better one from seeing the uni in person. You can talk to the staff and students and it helps you to understand what the university can offer YOU as a student.

Hi @gracielomax

I study fashion promotion and communication here at Kingston and one of my top tips for making a decision would be visiting open days and offer holder days. This really helped me make a decision as it is a great chance to get a feel for the universityas to what it might be like to live and study there, see the facilities and speak to current students and lectures.

I also have a couple previous posts I have made with lots of tips on how to make a decision

I hope this helps and good luck!

Hey @gracielomax

Amazing to hear you're looking at our fashion marketing options for university and might be considering us! 🤗
The Fashion Image Making and Styling (FIMS) course is one of the few courses in the country to have its own magazine, which means you will have the opportunity to be published and have your work distributed throughout the UK, which makes for excellent further opportunities. The course itself explores areas from styling, photography to promotion, publication and more, allowing you to build a range of skills and explore all areas of fashion marketing.

Some clients you could be working with during your studies here include Depop, Dazed, Sunday Times Style, JD Sports and many more. We even have links with Sino UK in China, which means opportunities in teaching and interning are available while studying.
If you want to hear a little more about the course, read what Dazed Magazine had to say about FIMS

I'd always recommend visiting the places you're applying to if you haven't already - you might find it helps cement your decision for a particular place, or shows you an option you didn't realise you'd love quite as much! We've got an open day on Saturday 13th June if you haven't visited us yet (you can book on here - we have a travel bursary too!), and you might find your other options have events coming up soon too 😊

Good luck with your choices, fingers crossed all your applications go well!

All the best,

Hi @gracielomax,

Congrats on your unconditional offer! Our Fashion Art Direction course is one of the many programmes offered as part of the Manchester Fashion Institute here at Manchester Met. To find out more about the work going on in the department, I'd recommend you look here first: https://fashioninstitute.mmu.ac.uk/.

If you would like to find out more and potentially narrow down your options a little bit further, I would echo what a lot of the other people in this thread are saying and advise you to come to one of our applicant visit days! As you hold an offer with us you should receive an email inviting you to one of our visit days in February, March or April. These are more course-specific than an open day you might have been to previously, so even if you have already visited the university campus I would still recommend you attend! These days give you a great chance to really sample the kind of learning you'll be doing in your degree, and to speak with course tutors in depth about your field.

I would also really recommend you speak with some current Manchester Met students via our Unibuddy platform! We have multiple Fashion students on the platform who will be happy to discuss their studies, student life and life in Manchester. To get started, click this link: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/chat-with-us-unibuddy.

I hope this helps you narrow your choices down a little bit more! Remember, you have plenty of time before you need to make a decision, so take your time, visit as many of the universities as you can, and do as much research as you need to.

Best of luck - Louie 😊
