Y12 Mocks, predicted grades, A Levels Biology, Chemistry, Maths and French

i have a few questions 😭
i'm in year 12, doing aqa bio and chem, edexcel maths, and aqa french
my first report frm december: grades based just on first few tests (which i failed one side of e.g. bonding side or mechanics side or cells side) BCDD french bio chem maths
in my jan mock, i got BBEE, bio was 50% for first two tests, it went up to 61% and french was around 70% before, went up to 75%

chem and maths i totally failed obviously bc i didnt revise much and i didnt do exam questions (which i understand is rlly rlly important now 😭😭)

i wanted to do med but i know that's not an option at all right now so im thinking of doing Cardiac Physiology (in Healthcare Science), requirements BBB, ABB, AAB, like that
i got six 9s, three 8s and one 7 at gcse
i really want three As predicted and at the end 😭😭

im gonna speak to my teachers abt predictions like im hoping french can predict me an A, bio is entirely based on mock in may, chem I need to ask and maths I'm thinking of dropping bc i genuinely dont understand mechanics, i cant "conceptually visualize" what's going on, the grade 7 was in physics
and even for pure, when u open the exam paper it's like a different world

so my questions are:
is it okay to drop maths? (french is virtually of no use to me but i know i can definitely get a better grade than in maths and i would struggle a lot less)

can i still get predicted an A for chem? (ill ask my teacher and i know it's a stretch but still)

can u pls give me every single thing u can think of that can get me solid As in bio and chem plss 😭😭 ill do anything, i just dont know what to do

ppl say exam questions for chem and it gets repetitive - is that true?, and what abt content, how do i acc learn the content
my mom's thinking of getting me uplearn, should i or should i get tailored tutors or something else?
im trying to get a tutor asw

for bio, again, how can i get an A
i cant rlly get a tutor but i might be able to get tailored tutors if that's useful
(if ure gonna suggest uplearn or tt plsss tell me how to acc use it im rlly confused)
i got biologywitholivia notes before the mock that's why it finally went up

im rlly rlly rlly sorry for all the writing, thank u so much for reading this 😭

Do not drop maths. I’m biased tho

You can drop maths, the only med school in the uk that requires maths is Cambridge and realistically your predicted grades will not be high enough to apply there anyway.
Your predicted grades will not be confirmed until around September/October of year 13 usually so your focus atm should be on improving your working at grades, not discussing predicteds with teachers because if they over-predict you risk not having any viable uni options if you apply for lots of ambitious choices.
I do bio a level as a year 13 and am working at an A* so happy to answer any questions you have 🙂 Exam questions are important, but you need to focus on what goes wrong on them for you (especially in longer answer questions). Exam questions will not help you if you dont understand the content though. Learn the content, then apply it to exam questions open-book and then do recall from memory.

but i do want three As tho lol
and they wont overpredict its a grammar school im terrified they're not gonna predict an a for chem no matter what i do now 😭
and wow thats amazing that ure working at an A* congratss!! thank you!!! <3

Sounds like a solid back-up plan!
It’s probably a good thing your school doesn’t over-predict tbh because it means you're more likely to get offers from the schools you do apply to!
Best of luck getting your As
Cheers 🙂

There are many med schools that require AAA and some A*AA
You can still apply with your grades?

I’m in year 13 and I do A level biology, chemistry, maths and AS French. I planned to do all 4 full a levels but the jump to year 13 was huge and I didn’t need 4 but I’d already done most of the AS content for French. So I’m currently doing 1 French lesson a week to learn the film. My year 12 predicteds were 4 A*s and I applied to UCAS with 3A*s as I wasn’t sure if I was going to definitely do AS French.

You can drop maths as you don’t need it but what you have already learnt will be useful as you’re doing STEM.

You can get predicted an A in chem if you understand the content and do lots of past paper questions (they pretty much repeat) focusing on your weak topics so you can smash your year 12 mocks.

For bio make sure you understand everything then do flashcards and lots of application questions. Miss Estruch biology is AMAZING.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hi, remember you are only in year 12 you have loads of time to improve so medicine is still possible I’d say drop maths if you’re better at french and if you enjoy and also maths only gets harder so if you are already struggling it will be even tougher to improve it. To improve in biology I used this method and went from a D to an A revise content using the mark-scheme and specification cuz biology is so specific so to get the marks you need to write your answers in a way that the markscheme credits and do every single question on PMT and all the past papers and with chemistry again it’s about knowing the content and also doing every single question on PMT and all the past papers. Hope that helps!!
