So for the 12 marker you really only need to do 3 paragraphs. 2 paragraphs answering the question and a conclusion.
For the 2 paragraphs:
Point, Evidence (sociologist), Explain, Link back to question and Evaluation
You can have the paragraph as an agreement or disagreement to the statement, you can have both the paragraphs as disagree or agree but I would advise to do one on agreeing and the other on disagreeing. To start the paragraph talk about the theory eg if the question was how far do sociologists agree that the nuclear family is symmetrical, your first paragraph would start saying feminists would strongly disagree that the family is symmetrical as they see it as a patriarchal structure where the men who are the head of the house exploit the women who take on the domestic labour. Then you would bring a sociologist to back that up like Anne Oakley and explain her theory and how that relates back to the question. Then give examples like statistics or just common knowledge. Then link just by saying a sentence like this shows that the nuclear family isn’t symmetrical due to the dual labour going against the statement. Then you evaluate, you can use a specific sociologist that would contradict the sociologist theory you used or it can be broad like functionalist would disagree…

Then the next paragraph use the same structure but with different theory and if it would agree or disagree with the question.

Conclusion:
A few lines summarising the points you have brought up, do not talk about anything new just go based on what you have already written. Do not include your opinion like I agree/ disagree but instead say sociologists would agree with the statement because… then talk about why sociologists would disagree.

I’m ngl I have forgotten the other questions but I did sociology for gcse and I am doing it for a level as well so if you need any revision tips feel free to ask.

I asked a different sociology teacher and she said do two paragraphs by choosing two out of Marxist, functionalist and feminist and then choose 2 thinkers so ig for Marxism you would write abt Zaretsky and idk who else is a Marxist but ye, what do u think?

The best way to revise sociology in my opinion is to 1- learn the content using revision guides or websites such as save my exams and then attempt past paper questions based on what you learn so if you where leaning the theory’s for family such as parsons, Oakley, zarestky etc you could do a past paper question like describe how far sociologists would agree the nuclear family is the best family in modern Britain today (12marks)

This is good as it will help you consolidate your learning!

The way I do my 12 markers is
For- 1 sociologist and then explain in detail and give examples
Against- 1 sociologist and then explain in detail and give examples
Conclusion- a new sociologist and explain and give examples

Everyone attempts questions differently so if u want u can send me your question and I don’t mind marking it for you !

Hope this helps x

Wdym give examples like if it was parsons i would say he belives that the nuclear family is the best, would my examples talk about warm bath theory and then primary socialisation. Also do you really need a conclusion like if i js do an intro defining the key word and then 3 paragraphs if that fine also do you have to do one femenist, one Marxist, one functionalist or can it be like 2 femenists and one Marxist for example. Srry for all the questions but i rlly want to get a grade 9 as im considering it for a level and also i have mocks soon

Honestly you can get 12/12 with 3 paragraphs and 3 theory’s you don’t need 6 different people

I will write an example response so you can see what I mean
