Speech and Language Pre-Reg MSC (MMU)

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me. I had my interview last Thursday for Sep 2026 entry onto the SALT MSc at MMU and have just received a decision on UCAS that my application was unsuccessful… I’m absolutely gutted as I thought the interview went really really well and I’m not sure what else I could have done - does anybody know if I email would I be able to get feedback? I also had considered applying to LBU and University of Lancashire but the deadlines for applications for those have now closed, does anyone know if they accept late applications? TIA x

Hi @frenglishfille5,

I'm sorry to hear this! It's definitely an uncertain time waiting for decisions, especially if it's not the outcome you wanted. I wouldn't let this dishearten you, you are applying, doing your best so keep going on 🙂

I would definitely ask for feedback, I would email or even ring for a faster response. It's feedback that can really helps us improve so I would definitely chase for it. It's normal to ask for it! You can get in touch with their admissions team here.

Even though our course has closed for admissions for Sept 2026, you can find out more including entry requirements, modules and how to apply here. You can also get in touch with our course enquirers team if you have any questions in the future. If you wish, you can get in contact with the friendly team via [email protected] You could also speak to the team if they have any suggestions of what would make you stand out in your future application, if you have feedback from MMU then let them know that if you wish and just ask for any advice or any questions you may have. Could you spend the year getting some experience?

Hope this helps even a little bit 🙂
Best wishes,
^Zac

You can email for feedback.

Whenever I/we email interview candidates who we reject we typically write a little bit of feedback about how their responses could have been improved. Master's courses are a little different as generally most applicants are good enough for the course; they were just outscored on the day by others. So it may be that the feedback is not substantial. Continue to develop your skills and gain more experience etc..

You could always consider applying for an undergraduate degree which are less competitive, or a MSCi if you really want the postgraduate qualification.
