Will top unis be okay with 7 GCSES?

I am resitting Year 11. I have numerous different and detailed extenuating circumstances at to why I only take 7, when I used to take 9 a year ago.

I don’t want to jeopardise my current exam load by adding anymore, it’s not feasible. And I have been advised to not try sit extra GCSEs in YR 12 and 13.

Will top unis care? I am aiming for Maths/MORSE etc at places like Warwick, Imperial, UCL, LSE etc.

Obviously, I am aiming to max out my grades (currently at 7s) to be 9’s in all 7. And of course for alevels I will aim for A*.

Thoughts?

You should check uni course websites - they should detail what they expect you to get in your GCSEs. Usually they won’t care especially if you’ve got extenuating circumstances, and even more especially if you max out your grades!

As long as you have the main subjects (English/Maths/Science) and you have good grades in them then you should be fine. You usually need 5 grade C's/the number equivalent to get into level 3 courses including A-levels.
Unis will mainly look at your A-level grades and any extra curriculars/work experience.
They are extremely unlikely to care. You'll be fine

Hi,
Top universities will not automatically penalise you for tsking fewer GCSEs, especially if your reasons are valid and you're resitting to improved grades. What matters far more to them is: your actual grades, predicted grades and performance in A levels because that's the best indicator of your academic ability.
