Application approved then suspended for a returning student after 2nd interruption

Hi

I interrupted 2nd time during 2024/25 academic year. I applied and recived financial support the grounds of compelling personal reasons. I'm scheduled to come back this April to complete my course i.e., take 1 and hand-in all outsanding assignments.

I applied for financial support for 2025/26 academic year under the grounds of compelling personal reasons. I still have an oustanding tuition fee and would maintenace loan to cover rent as I've already used up my savings. The application was submited in October and approved on Nov-Dec 2025.

Later, I wanted to increase my maintenance loan, but I made a stupid mistake by requesting the increment and not total sum, reducing my maintenance loan by 1/2. I assumed the increment would be added on top of the maintenance loan that was already awarded. I submitted another form to the correct these changes but they already approved the previous changes.

I received a response in January, the first letter I was received on the 21st, where I was awarded 0 for tuition fee and different maintenance loan to what I requested. Then I received two subsequent letters on the 27th, where in the first letter I was awarded 0 for tuition and 0 for maintenance loan. The last letter was notification for change of circumstances for 2025/26 academic year, but I interrupted on 2024/25...? Also, my online application is suspended.

I've contacted the universities financial advice and they contacted sfe on my behalf. I was told by the advice team that once I return I will receive an updated notification of entitlement letter.

My concern is I return in April and my course ends in May (I still need to submit some coursework during the retake period), and I've just found out that my oustanding tuition is higher than what I was told, so I need to make a new request, which will delay everything.

Can I still request and receive a higher tuition fee and receive some financial support in time during my return in April and before the end of my course in May?

Hi,

If you have made a 25/26 application you can update the application to request the maximum Tuition Fee Loan, under change my application and loan amount and Tuition Fee Loan. If the amount in section 4 is incorrect, the university can amend this when they send us your resumption to tell us you're back on the course.

We can only award funding for the duration you're on the course i.e. April-May. Again the information on dates needs to come directly from your university so we can pro rate the funding.

Thanks,
Claire
