Any successful rejection appeals from MMU?

Hi everyone, I received a rejection from my application for Speech and Language Therapy MSc at MMU over the weekend, something I was really surprised about as I really thought the interview went really well and I really got on with the lecturer interviewing me.

For context, the interview was meant to be a group interview but I was the only candidate who attended and so it ended up just being a 1:1 interview with the lecturer. My friend has alluded to the possibility that perhaps the reason for the rejection was because nobody else attended and so I was unable to demonstrate the skills required of a group interview, therefore making it an ‘easy’ decision for the admissions team. Obviously, I don’t know this to be true as I haven’t received any feedback yet, and I would like to believe it not be as this would be hugely unfair as it obviously wasn’t my fault that no one else attended the interview.

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this or had experienced anything similar. I am really devastated by this decision and I really at this moment can’t understand why I have been rejected. A couple of people have suggested I appeal the decision, but I am unsure of the success rate of that or if I would even meet the criteria for appealing decisions (listed below)

Appeals will only be considered on the following three grounds and at least one must be specified in the form:

There is evidence that University procedure was not followed. The onus is on the Applicant to evidence where an alleged procedural irregularity has occurred.
There is new evidence which has come to light and there are valid reasons for not previously making it available. Applicants will need to provide details explaining why this evidence was not available at the time of application. Please note that the University’s acceptance of such new material information is at its sole discretion, and the University reserves the right to not to consider this new information if it is judged that it was available or known to the Applicant when the application was submitted.
There is evidence that the University has demonstrated bias or prejudice in the treatment of the application. Applicants will need to provide specific examples and include any supporting documentation to evidence their claim.

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions with this. Thank you!

“My friend hasalluded to the possibility that perhaps the reason for the rejection was because nobody elseattended and so I was unable to demonstrate the skills required of a group interview, therefore making it an ‘easy’ decision for the admissions team” …..sorry but this is highly unlikely , if anything a 1 to 1 interview gives you a far better chance at selling yourself .Group interviews are notoriously difficult for some people who may make equally good healthcare professionals . By all means get feedback but I honestly don’t see how you would have grounds for appeal….healthcare courses are very competitive and they have no option but to reject some people after interview ( back in the day I got 3 interviews then 2 offers, including a rejection from my top uni ,it’s highly disappointing but that’s just how it goes sometimes).p.s. just to say I’m really sorry it didn’t go as you hoped but every interview you do in your life helps you prepare better for the next !

I had such a similar experience last year, was devastated cause I felt it went really well but it’s just such a competitive course ❤️*🩹 definitely email for feedback but I don’t think you’ll be able to appeal it, have you applied anywhere else?
