There are no jobs for life any more

There seems to be no jobs for life any more. People change jobs all the time.
Why do you think this is?

Job for life a 'thing of the past' | Daily Mail Online
I think there are a few reasons.

increase in technology (creating some jobs, and taking away others).

More money (people will go where there is more money).

Less job security (especially in certain industries)

People are less likely to stay in jobs where they aren't treated right and will go elsewhere where they are treated better.

I think a large part of it is that people feel less perceived loyalty to coporations and businesses than they used to. Brand loyalty is much, much less prevalent and that extends to people's opinion of their workplace. People have less of a sense of pride about the place they work.

I think it's a lot less tied to people's identity than it used to be... maybe due to more widespread critiques of capatilism, but I think probably also because previously people worked for companies that directly supported their local community and now it's more common to work for a national or international company and it feels a lot more impersonal. It's a lot more common for people to describe themself by their job title than by the company they work for and i'm not sure that was always the case.
