Hey I'm hoping to apply to UPDM this year! So far I've done work experience at a local council, been on a sounding board for a new development, had some webinars, ran an urban design workshop inter alia, and am hoping to attend a summer school/ read some books over the summer of Y12.

Obviously you dont have to do all this (quality not quantity!!) and I wouldn't worry so much at Y11. I don't believe urban studies courses require a portfolio, that's typically for arch students. Just make sure your sure of a passion for the built environment, evidence to show that and meet the entry requirements...(and a plan for finances...london is expensive lol)!!

hope this helps

Thank you so much! One thing, how do you know you have a passion for it? Did you have a passion for it at year 11?

Gosh that’s quite a philosophical question!! I think passion is interpreted differently by different peopl, that’s the beauty of its uniqueness. Personally, growing up in a new town I always had an interest in the urban world, just how i can be involved with it has changed ( architect > politics > urbanism)
