Sutton Trust summer school at Warwick

Hi, I'm in y12 and am applying to the Sutton Trust Warwick summer school for mathematical sciences. I have 10 gcses A*-A but meet no other additional requirements. What are my chances of getting in, and what is the weight of academic vs socio-economic factors for admissions?

From past experiences applying, the Sutton trust programmes are mainly targeted towards those who are of a low-socioeconomic background. Reading the entry requirements may also help and if you're still not sure feel free to email them!

https://summerschools.suttontrust.com/eligibility/. It’s fairly clear ….the whole point of the Sutton trust is “to support high achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds“….100% of the last cohort met at least 3 of their additional criteria

Honestly, there isn’t a clear cut answer for this. Sutton Trust doesn’t publish exact weightings, and decisions seem to be made case by case.

Grades do matter, but they’re more about showing you can handle the course. From what people say, socio economic background is a big part of the decision, since the programme is about widening participation.

If you meet the eligibility and have strong GCSEs, you’re not ruled out, but it’s also not something that’s guaranteed. It really depends on the overall picture.
