Second degree funding

I have applied and been accepted to study Occupational Therapy undergrad starting in September 2026. However I just realised I am not sure whether I would be eligible for full funding because I already have a first degree, unrelated to Occupational Therapy. Where do I go to find out how much funding, if any I would get?

Hi there,

We normally don't fund second degrees unless it's one of our exception courses. Can you confirm what university you will studying with? Is the course full time? How long is the course?

Thanks,
Claire

Checking the course on the system it shows currently as one of our exception courses for 25/26 academic year. We don't yet have the details for 26/27. If this is still an exception course for 26/57 a/y then you should be eligible for funding.

Thanks,
Claire

Hello Claire,
When will you have the information whether it will be eligible?

Hello Claire,
When will you have the information whether it will be eligible?

We should have this by the time the 2026/27 applications open, which will happen on March the 23rd. Feel free to check back with us then.

You can also ask London South Bank directly: they'll be able to confirm that the course will be available in the 2026/27 year.

Thanks, Graeme

Hello Greame,

I got the funding for the second degree however I think I filled the application in wrong. For the section where it asks whether I will be studying at University or on Placement I selected placement for my second semester. After contacting my tutor he said the placement is integral part of the course because I need to complete 1000 hours to qualify. Is it better for me cancel my application and re apply or try and sort it out?

Thank you

Hi there,

This will be updated for you as the assessors will know it's integral to the course. Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason,

On my application it is asking me to provide evidence for the placement. Also when I contacted sfe via telephone they asked me to call my university and ask them to provide evidence. Will this resolve on its own or should I do something else?

Hi there,

You can upload a cover letter just to clarify your error and that it's integral to the course. This will ensure it's updated for you. Thanks, Jason
